Arizona Banks Give Back
The Arizona Bankers Association (AzBA) would like to recognize the significant impact our member banks have within the communities where they do business.  Using 2010 data, collected and aggregated, AzBA has created a publication highlighting these good works.  We've entitled the publication "Arizona Banks Give Back."

"Arizona Banks Give Back" is a 12 page brochure that provides a rarely seen snapshot of the Arizona banking industry.  Banks are the single most important component of Arizona's economy.  Not only do they lend to Arizonans, but they employ thousands of Arizonans, reinvesting in their communities and providing financial and social stability in their markets.  Bankers educate young adults on the importance of financial responsibility.  Bankers donate significant time and money to charities.  Banks are, in many ways, the lifeblood of our neighborhoods and communities.  Click here to view the publication.  For more information, contact AzBA's Stacey Langford at slangford@azbankers.org.

AzBA Joins the Regulatory Feedback Initiative (RFI)
The regulatory environment is one of the biggest challenges bankers face today.  Bank regulators have tremendous power, with very few checks and balances, and the confidential nature of bank exams make it hard to hold anyone accountable.  That's why the Arizona Bankers Association is joining with bankers associations across the country to create the Regulatory Feedback Initiative (RFI).  This initiative will bring transparency and accountability to the regulatory process and will help every bank in the country prepare for their examinations and manage regulatory risk.

The initiative consists of a brief, anonymous online survey that we are asking every bank president to complete following their examinations.  This will allow us to track regulatory practices from state to state and from regulator to regulator.  Identifying inconsistencies and misguided regulatory treatment has never been more important given the avalanche of new regulations required by the Dodd-Frank Act.  The resulting database of examination experiences will be a powerful resource for the entire industry.
